Brief Background

Professor Yaw Afari Ankomah hails from a town in the Techiman municipality in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. He had his elementary education in this town called Aworowa and continued to the Seventh-day Adventist Teacher Training College at Asokore-Koforidua in the Eastern Region, where he trained as a professional teacher in basic education.

He later obtained both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He has also a PhD in educational leadership from the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), U.S.A. He attended the 40th session of the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) in 2004/2005 after completing his PhD, and obtained an international master's degree in educational planning and management.

He is an Associate Professor in the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, University of Cape Coast, Ghana, with specialisations in educational policy analysis, educational planning, educational leadership and supervision, and human resources development in education.

Prof. Ankomah also serves as the Pastor in charge of the Seventh-day Adventist students fellowship, the Ghana National Association of Adventist Students (GNAAS), of the University of Cape Coast.
